Business Hours Reduced  

2020 September 2, Georgetown, Guyana: Pursuant to the guidelines published in the Gazette, Legal Supplement dated August 31, 2020, the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) announces the following modifications to our service delivery.

BUSINESS HOURS REDUCTION:

Effective September 1, 2020, the business hours for all GPL Commercial Offices will be reduced by one hour.

  • Our Commercial Offices will operate between 08:00 hours to 14:00 hours, Mondays to Fridays and close for business on weekends.
  • Our Service Centres at Parika, Mon Repos and Grove will operate between 08:00 hours to 14:00 hours, Mondays to Fridays on their respective business days and from 7:30 hrs to 14:00 hrs on their respective weekend days.

ACCESSIBLE SERVICES:

In an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing, GPL has introduced temporary measures to protect our valued customers and staff while conducting business at our Offices across all served areas.

Our offices will only be accessible to process:

  • Bill Payment & Prepaid Tokens Purchases
  • For queries, customers must engage us via our Call Centre on Tel. Nos. 226-2600 ext 1 or Whatsapp 608-9090 or LIVE CHAT through our website @ gplinc.net. During our interactions via telephone or online, should the query require a face-to-face interaction, an appointment will be established. Our Company will not facilitate walk-in customers with queries.
  • For applications, customers must commence the application process for services through our website @ gplinc.net/services. Following the completion of this process, a Customer Service Representative will contact you via phone to set up an appointment to visit the Office to complete the process. Customers attempting to initiate the application process at our commercial offices will not be facilitated.

Customers are encouraged to utilize our wide network of payment agents to avoid a cluster of customers at our GPL Commercial Offices. Financial transactions conducted through our authorised Agents are secure and remitted to GPL within 24 hours of the transaction.

 DISCONNECTIONS REMAIN SUSPENDED & SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE FINANCIALLY CHALLENGED

Our company is continuing its efforts to meet the needs of customers whose households or businesses have been impacted negatively by COVID-19 and are unable to pay their GPL bills. Customers who are unable to pay bills are encouraged to contact us via revenue@gplinc.com  to discuss with our Customer Service Representatives, payment options suited to their circumstances.

While we continue to work with customers, disconnections for non-payment of bills remains suspended until further notice and our Company will provide adequate notice prior to the resumption of disconnection activities.

GPL extends appreciation to our customers who continue to pay their monthly bills and encourages continued settlement of current charges to avoid an accumulated sum that may be unmanageable when disconnection activities resume.
