GPL is inviting sealed bids for the purchase and removal of various scrap metal from the Garden of Eden location on an “as is, where is” basis as follows:
- Lot 1 – Assortment of mixed metals and aluminum wires in the compound (bid to be submitted for the entire lot)
- Lot 2 – Transformers comprising various metals (bid to be submitted for the entire lot)
- Lot 3 – Four Metal Containers containing unserviceable engines and parts (bid to be submitted for the entire lot)
- Lot 4 – Four Empty Metal Containers (bid to be submitted for the entire lot)
- Lot 5 – Decommissioned/Unserviceable Engines and parts (bids to be submitted for the entire lot)
- Lot 6 – Four (4) Serviceable Trailers (bid to be submitted for the entire lot)
- Lot 7 – Two (2) Damaged Trailers (bid to be submitted for the entire lot)

Terms & Conditions:
- All Lots are sold on an “as is, where is” basis.
- All Bidders MUST provide sufficient evidence of “registration with” and “certification by” The Ministry of Business.
- Each Lot MUST be placed on individual bid forms.
- Prospective Bidders are only allowed to submit one (1) bid per lot.
- Bids for Lot 2 MUST include a plan for removal and containment of the transformer oil.
- Bids for LOT 5 MUST include a removal plan inclusive of:
- Timetable for various activities
- Evidence of access to or ownership of machinery/equipment to be used
- Method of removal of all materials
- Prospective Bidders MUST CLEARLY indicate the lot on the bid form.
- Payment of 100% must be made in cash or via manager’s cheque to Guyana Power & Light Inc by the successful bidder within seven (7) working days of written notification. Failure to pay within the stipulated period will result in the next ranked bidder being considered.
- With the exception of Lot 5; Lots MUST be removed within the subsequent (ten) 10 working days of payment. Failure to do so will result in the next ranked bidder being considered.
- Removal and transport of Lots from the location would be the responsibility of the bidder.
- Successful bidders SHALL be held responsible for any oil spillage or damage to GPL’s property during the removal of Lots.
- Successful bidders would be required to provide a list of employees who would be working at these respective locations.
Bid forms will be available at The Procurement Department, 40 Main Street, Georgetown and the company’s website http://gplinc.net/bids/
Bids must be placed in sealed envelopes bearing no identification of the bidder’s name on the outside and must be clearly marked on the top, left hand corner “Bid for Purchase and Removal of Scrap Metal – GPL-PD-007-2020”. Submissions must be addressed to and deposited in the Tender Box at the address below. Bids are to be received no later than 14:00 hours (Guyana Time) on March 10th, 2020.
