Expression of Interest- Fault finding and rectification works for the restoration of the 13.8kV Submarine Cable
The Guyana Power & Light Inc. is committed to providing our Customers with a quality Electricity Supply and a level of Service that meets and exceeds the expectations of our Customers. In an effort to continually improve our services, expressions of interest are sought from reputable companies, individuals and contractors for the following service:
Fault finding and rectification works for the restoration of the 13.8kV Submarine cable that runs from Vreed-en-Hoop to Princess Street:
Phase 1: Fault finding and identification of damages
- Locate and physically check the length of the cable to identify damaged spots.
- For this initial stage the successful contractor will be required to provide:
- A barge with accompanying tug to stabilise same
- Two (2) Excavators for handling of the cable and stabilisation of the barge
- One (1) experienced diver
- Relevant cable slings and strap to hold cable in place on the Barge
- Capable Handymen to handle the cable during the checking process.
Phase 2: Cable Repairs / Splicing
For the repair/splicing stage the successful contractor is required to provide the following:
- A barge with accompanying tug to stabilise same.
- Two (2) Excavators for handling of the cable and stabilisation of the barge
- A cable tray and stand to hold the cable in place when splicing
- Relevant cable slings and strap to hold cable in place on the Barge
- Ratcheting mechanisms that can be used to pull the cable ends to be spliced together.
- A shed to protect the work area from weathering conditions while performing repairs.
- Capable Handymen to handle the cable as required by GPL.

For expression of interests to be considered, the following are required:
- Copies of original documents defining the constitution or legal status, place of registration, principal place of business & Individual/Company TIN/VAT Certificate.
- VALID National Insurance Certificate and VALID Guyana Revenue Authority Compliance Certificate required from all local service providers.
- Information regarding any current litigation in which the service provider is involved, the parties’ concerned and disputed amount.
- Satisfactory evidence of the capability and adequacy of resources to execute the service efficiently and effectively.
- Specifications of vessels/equipment inclusive of pictures.
NOTE: This is not a Tender, therefore, please do not include any rates/quotes with your submission.
