TECHNICIAN III
Job Description/Key Resonsibilities
We’re excited to announce the search for results oriented Technician III, to join our team at the Metering & Field Department – Sophia, Golden Grove, Vreed-en-Hoop and Edinburgh Substations.
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Shift Control Engineer, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring and recording system conditions and effecting all switching operations.
1. Carry out Quality verification rechecks on major and minor metering installations, to ensure a high degree of work quality and accurate material accountability.
2. Conduct consumer claims investigation and provide reports.
3. Conduct major and minor installation integrity investigation and correct defects.
4. Be subjected to and comply with the requirements of the Safety and Health legislation, regulations and contractual obligations.
5. Adhering to the Standard Line Practice Codes and Safety rules of the Company.
6. To demonstrate his/her knowledge as a rescue operator to personnel in danger and to render First Aid treatment in cases of emergency.
7. Perform other duties that may be assigned within the scope of your employment, from an Authorized Officer.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
· Excellent Communication Skills (verbal & Oral)
· Attentive to details
· Basic knowledge of practical engineering science technology.
· Ability to accurately make numerical analysis.
· Thorough knowledge of the operations of Power Generation, Distribution and associated auxiliary equipment
· Knowledge of Power Plant monitoring systems.
Required Qualifications and Experience
1. Technician Diploma in Electrical Engineering from G.T.I. or its equivalent, with a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience.
OR
2. Technician Certificate in Electrical Engineering Part II, from G.T.I. or its equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.
OR
3. Three (3) CXC subjects inclusive of Mathematics and English along with Craft Certificate (electrical) from a recognized training institution plus two (2) years’ experience in the electrical field.
