Job Description/Key Resonsibilities

We’re excited to announce the search for a skilled and motivated Technician/Driver to join our team at the System Planning & Research DepartmentMiddle Street location.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Head – Network Planning Unit and the Administrative Assistant, the incumbent will be responsible for driving the department’s designated vehicle and transporting staff relative to field trips, office errands as well as mounting and dismounting of measurement instruments on live primary and secondary distribution lines.

 

 

 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

 

  1. Mount and dismount on the Company’s energized/live primary and secondary distribution lines in accordance with the standard operating procedure for working on such networks, voltage and load measurements.
  2. Complying with Company Rules and Regulations
  3. Complying with the requirements of the safety and health legislation.
  4. Operating the company’s vehicle in a safe and responsible manner.
  5. Keeping record of and complying with the company’s vehicle maintenance schedule.
  6. Perform other relevant duties to support the Department’s Action Plan, and by extension, the Divisional Business Plan, to bolster the Company’s Corporate Strategic Plan, as assigned by or through the Manager or the Divisional Director – Engineering Services.

 

COMPETENCY PROFILE:

 

§  Thorough understanding of computer software – Skill in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
§  Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution Network
§  Excellent interpersonal skills

 

§  Knowledge of electrical schematics and blueprints
§  Skill in reading, interpreting, and sketching electrical diagrams

 

§  The ability to handle multiple tasks and need deadlines

 

§  Ability to attend to details

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  1. Three (3) subjects CSEC. inclusive of Mathematics and English Grades (1- III); along with Apprenticeship Training in Electrical Discipline with two (2) years’ experience.

OR

  1. Craft Certificate in Electrical Installation from the Government Technical Institute, plus Two (2) years as a Technician 111 and successful completion of Competency test at Technician II.

 

OR

 

  1. Certificate – Board of Industrial Training (electrical), plus four (4) years’ relevant experience.

 

You must be the holder of a valid driver’s license with four (4) years’ experience.

 

Salary Grade: Commensurate with Qualifications & Experience
