Job Description/Key Resonsibilities

We’re excited to announce the search for a results oriented Superintendent, to join our team at the Metering Department – CANEFIELD, BERBICE.

SUMMARY:

 

Under the general direction of the Loss Reduction Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of field surveys activities of the Metering Department.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

 

  1. Co-ordinate all Minor Field and Office activities as it relates to daily duty. In addition, to ensure efficient and optimal use of all logistics and resources, inclusive accountability of materials, equipment, tools and property of GPL during the execution of duty.

 

  1. Provide necessary information relevant to the preparation of daily, weekly, monthly performance/Attendance reports, as well as Field Visit, Vehicle Maintenance, Tools and equipment reports as required by coordinator.

 

 

  1. Compile information necessary for litigation and appear in court on behalf of the Guyana Power and Light Inc. on litigation matters as may be warranted from time to time.

 

 

  1. Verify specification of requested items of quantities of meters and other related materials for meter installation. (GRN – Canefield  local stores)

 

  1. Scrutinizing of received service orders for ambiguity, inconsistencies, and take appropriate corrective actions.

 

  1. Assist in providing on the job training to all direct reports.

 

  1. Administer and dispense discipline in keeping with the Disciplinary Policy/Procedures.

 

 

 

 

  1. Enforce strict compliance with the requirements of the Safety and Health legislation, regulations and contractual obligations. In addition, promptly investigate and make recommendations through written reports with respect to infractions of Safety and Health regulations.

 

  1. Conducts continuous assessment and monitoring of direct reports work performance, development, and taking steps to correct poor work performance.

 

  1. Enforce strict compliance with the requirements of all ISO Procedures to ensure 0% non-conformities, and make recommendations for changed where necessary.

 

  1. Perform other duties that may be assigned to you within the scope of your employment, from an Authorized Officer.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret Technical procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information
  • Ability to define or identify problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusion
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of Technical instructions in measurement or in diagram form
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in the use of computer Microsoft applications

 

 

  • Be conversant with the OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ACT CHAPTER NO. 32 of 1997, ELECTRICITY SECTOR REFORM ACT CHAPTER 57:01 OF 1999, and the Guyana Power & Light License which include the STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ELECTRIC SERVICES of March 31, 2002

Required Qualifications and Experience

  1. Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Guyana or its equivalent from an accredited institution plus Five (5) years relevant experience.

 

OR

  1. T.I. Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Ordinary Technical Diploma (OTD) or its equivalent, with at least seven (7) years’ experience in the Line Distribution Field at a Supervisory Level.
