Job Description/Key Resonsibilities

We’re excited to announce the search for a results-oriented Solar Technician, to join our team at the Diesel Generation Department – Bartica, Essequibo Location.

SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the all preventative and corrective maintenance on the solar plant which includes security and housekeeping of the environment while ensuring all Health Safety Environment (HSE) procedures are followed. The Technician must ensure maximum availability and performance ratio of the solar plant and submit timely technical reports on all events. RCA, identifying and implementing plant optimization projects under guidance by the Plant Manager and Photovoltaic (PV) experts.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

 

  1. Plan, prepare for, manage, and execute activities pertaining to Preventative Maintenance

on the solar plant assuring all HSE procedures are followed, activities include but             are not limited to:

  1. Substation maintenance as per annual maintenance schedule
  2. E-House maintenance as per annual maintenance schedule
  3. General Junction Box (GJB) maintenance as per annual maintenance schedule.
  4. Array Junction Box (AJB) maintenance as per annual maintenance                 schedule.
  5. Infrared Red scans of panels, AJBs, GJBs, transformers and inverters
  6. Inspections as scheduled on substation, E-House, GJBs, AJBs and RO

plant.

  1. Inspect, test, diagnose and maintain CCTV system.

 

  1. Plan, prepare for, manage, and execute activities and execute pertaining to Corrective Maintenance on the solar plant assuring all HSE procedures are followed, activities include but are not limited to:
  2. Respond to all alarms triggered on the solar plant.
  3. Resolve all trips on the solar plant as soon as possible.
  4. Attend to all breakdowns, do fault finding/root cause analysis and                resolve, fix, or replace faulty equipment with minimal energy loss.
  5. Diagnose and replace PV panels.
  6. Diagnose, test, repair and/or replace cables, cable inter-connections, PV junction/string boxes, connectors, and fuses in PV systems.

 

  1. Maintain solar/diesel Hybrid system, including batteries.
  2. Apply root cause analysis techniques on all major and reoccurring faults.
  3. Investigate technical failures and prepare formal technical report.
  4. Generate work order (WO) requests for onsite intervention.
  5. Enforce HSE compliance requirements.
  6. Work with Engineers on Plant optimization.
  7. Perform standby duties.
  8. Train/mentor interns.
  9. Interact with Bartica System Control and Transmission & Distribution as required.
  10. Prepare Requests for Quotes as needed.
  11. Record keeping and management of spare part movements.
  12. Report significant events to Plant Manager and PV Engineer.
  13. Perform other duties that may be assigned to you within the scope of your employment, from an Authorized Officer.

COMPETENCY PROFILE:

·       Able to troubleshoot and analyze data including following various types of process charts, schematics, and single line diagrams.

·       Knowledge, understanding and perception of integrated systems and how to apply effect fault finding techniques in such a system.

·       Very good written and oral communication skills.

·       Well-organized and responsive in all communications including clear, concise e-mails, adept at writing technical reports and policies.

·       Team player, able to balance team and individual responsibilities.

·       Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

·       Able to manage stress and high-pressure situations.

·       Able to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and work effectively under limited supervision

Required Qualifications and Experience

  1. Technician Certificate from the Government/Essequibo Technical Institute along with three (3) subjects C.S.E.C including English A, Mathematics (Grades 1-3) with at least one (1) year relevant experience.

OR

 

  1. Five (5) subjects C.S.E.C including Mathematics, English A and a technical subject (Grades 1-3) with at least two (2) years’ relevant experience.

 

Plus

You must be the holder of a valid driver’s license with four (4) years’ experience.
