Job Description/Key Resonsibilities

The opportunity awaits qualified results oriented professionals who are interested in joining our team within the Office of the Divisional Director Power Generation and Delivery – Main Street, Georgetown. Interested candidates with the requisite qualifications and experience are invited to apply for the vacant position of Solar Engineer.

Under the general direction of the Divisional Director – Power Generation and Delivery, the incumbent will be responsible for the overall health, performance, and financial viability of our solar assets, ensuring they deliver optimal return on investment. Additionally, the individual is require to play a pivotal role in managing our existing solar project portfolio and driving the success of future initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

1. Project Leadership and Management:

§ Oversee the operation and maintenance of existing solar projects, implementing strategies to achieve performance and budget targets.

§ Lead the project management of new solar installations, managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships (internal and external, including contractors, vendors, and utilities).

§ Develop and implement comprehensive project plans for efficient execution.

§ Conduct regular project reviews and identify areas for continuous improvement.

2. Technical Expertise and Innovation:

§ Analyze solar system performance data to identify opportunities for optimization and address potential issues.

§ Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions for solar system malfunctions, ensuring timely resolution.

§ Contribute to the technical design and engineering of new solar projects, staying abreast of industry best practices and advancements in solar technology.

3. Solar Asset Management & Financial Stewardship:

§ Develop and implement a comprehensive solar asset management plan, maximizing the lifespan and performance of our solar equipment through preventative maintenance activities.

§ Manage and track all solar project assets, including financial investments, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to financial reporting standards.

§ Collaborate with operations teams to implement best practices for the care and handling of solar equipment.

4. Financial Performance Optimization:

§ Evaluate the financial viability of potential solar projects, conducting thorough financial modeling and cost analysis.

§ Track project costs and ensure adherence to budgets, identifying and mitigating financial risks.

§ Generate comprehensive reports on project performance and return on investment (ROI), providing data-driven insights for future project development.

5. Team Leadership & Mentorship:

§ Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior solar engineers, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.

§ Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and commitment to continuous learning.

COMPETENCY PROFILE:

Strong understanding of solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) technology and electrical engineering principles.

Proficiency in industry-standard solar design software (e.g., PVSyst, AutoCAD).

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision making.

Effective communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor others.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in solar engineering or a relevant field, with demonstrable success in managing and overseeing solar projects.

Salary Grade: Commensurate with Junior Management ‘A’ Emoluments
