Senior Supervisor (Project Accounting)

G.P.L Inc. invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancy of Senior Supervisor (Project Accounting) within the Finance Department, Main Street.

Under the general direction of the Project Accountant, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all financial outflows in capital projects undertaken by the Company are efficiently monitored, reported, and confirms to contractual obligations and current project status.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  1. Produce timely and reliable management information reports regarding the status of projects.
  2. Prepare Project Status Report.
  3. Prepare Project Analysis Report
  4. Conduct Site Visits as per request.
  5. Identify/correct inaccurate expenditure coding in the cash book relative to projects.
  6. Check all Payment Certificates for Accuracy.
  7. Conducts continuous assessment and monitoring of staff work performance and development, taking steps to correct poor performance.
  8. Ensure that all paid project related payments and other supporting documents are correctly labeled and filed in the designated section/file.
  9. Orient, mentor, appraise and coach subordinate staff in an effort to aid their development of the requisite job skills and take necessary action to improve performance.
  10. Administer and dispense discipline in keeping with the Disciplinary Policy/Procedure.
  11. Enforce strict compliance with the requirements of the safety and health legislation, regulations and contractual obligations. Promptly investigate and make recommendations through written reports with respect to infractions of Safety and Health regulations.
  12. Orient, coach, mentor, train and appraise direct reports in keeping with their performance plan.
  13. Execute recommendations implemented by the section that is approved by Management.
  14. Liaise between the Accountant and Staff to ensure department’s goals are achieved and recommendations are effectively implemented
  15. Perform other duties that may be assigned to you within the scope of your employment, from an Authorized Officer.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Accountancy from the University of Guyana or its equivalent form an Accredited Institution with at least five (5) years of experience within an Accounting Division three (3) of which must be in a supervisory level.

OR

Diploma in Accountancy from University of Guyana or its’ equivalent from an Accredited Institution with at least seven (7) years’ relevant experience with five (5) years of which must be in a supervisory level.

OR

C.C.A. Level 11, with at least seven (7) years’ relevant experience with five (5) years of which must be in a supervisory level.
