NETWORK DESIGN ENGINEER
Job Description/Key Responsibilities
We’re excited to announce the search for a skilled and experienced Network Design Engineer –to join our team at the Engineering Designs and Standards Department – Middle Street, Georgetown.
Under the general direction of the Head – Major Network Infrastructure Designs, the incumbent will be responsible for producing implementable Network Designs, Estimates and Bills of Quantities for delivering electricity to prospective customers by means of adding or modifying the Primary and or Secondary Distribution Network.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
- Survey of projects, and conduct site visits.
- Liaise with other relevant departments and schedule joint site visits when necessary.
- Prepare Designs, Estimates and Bills of Quantities for modifications to the Primary and Secondary Distribution Networks. Prepare / finalize Quotations Details, including Terms of Supply up to an agreed level of authority.
- Assist with designing electric systems and composing Bill of Quantities of materials for IDP Projects;
- Prepare Authorization of work for implementation of network modifications.
- Provide guidance and training to Direct Reports to aid their development of the requisite job skills.
- Assist with the preparation of Annual Operational and Capital Budgets and monitoring of expenditure to ensure conformity with budget guidelines.
- Ensure Direct Reports compliance with Company Rules and Regulations and initiate disciplinary actions in keeping with Company’s Rules of Conduct.
- Enforce strict compliance with the requirements of the safety and health legislation, regulations and contractual obligations.
- Investigate promptly and make recommendations through written reports with respect to infractions of Safety and Health regulations.
- Develop Individual Performance Plans, and Learning & Development Plans
- Conduct continuous assessment and monitoring of staff work performance and development, and taking steps to correct poor work performance.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned to you within the scope of your employment, from an Authorized Officer.

- Knowledge of circuit analysis through the use of the appropriate software.
- Be conversant with the FACTORIES ACT CHAPTER 95:02, OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ACT CHAPTER N0 32 OF 1997, ELECTRICITY SECTOR REFORM ACT CHAPTER 57:01 OF 1999, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ACT NO 11 0F 1996 of the laws of Guyana, and the Guyana Power & Light License which include the STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ELECTRIC SERVICES of October, 2010.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors’ of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering/Project Management or its equivalent from an accredited institution with at least five (5) years’ experience in Line Transmission and Distribution designs.
