Laboratory Technician

We’re excited to announce the search for a resulted oriented, skill and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team within Health, Safety, Environmental & Laboratory Department – Kingston, Georgetown.

SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Chemist, the incumbent will be responsible to conduct sampling of water, lubricants, transformer oil and fuels; perform oil and water analyses, and carry out inspections and chemical services.

Key Responsibility Areas

Performs the following duties according to the documented procedures of the Laboratory: –

1. Laboratory analysis and sampling
2. Samples and analyses water, fuels, lubricants, and transformer oils to be used within the Company.
3. Makes up chemical reagents and ensure no expired reagents are utilized in the Lab’s operation
4. Conducts calibration and verification checks on all Laboratory equipment.
5. Washes and cleans sample bottles and other glassware used during laboratory operation

2. Other related duties
3. Samples and analyses fuel from storages facilities (fuel boats, road tankers, fuel terminals and fuel tanks)
4. Inspects road tankers /vessels used to transport fuel within the company.
5. Assist in maintaining and improving the safety culture of the Laboratory operation
6. Identify areas of nonconformity within the Laboratory operation
7. Assists in the monitoring of housekeeping for Laboratories
8. Perform other duties that may be assigned to you within the scope of your employment, from an Authorized Officer.

COMPETENCY PROFILE:

• Must be self-motivation, adaptable and a positive attitude
• Knowledge of ISO and Safety policies
• A good working knowledge of operational power plant chemistry and water treatment plant.
