JUNIOR AUDIT TECHNICIAN

Job Description/Key Responsibilities

We’re excited to announce the search for a resulted oriented and motivated Junior Audit Technician to join our team at the Internal Audit Department – Duke Street, Georgetown.

SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Internal Audit Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for

checking internal control system and procedures for company Operations (T&D, Metering and Generation) in order to detect control deficiencies and weakness and recommend appropriate Solution. Assist in carrying out investigations of both internal and external theft of company property.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

1. Assist Internal Audit Supervisor in ensuring GPL accomplishes its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of its T&D, metering and generation operations. .

2. Assist I implementing audit plans and programs to routinely evaluate controls for the company’s Operation: Transmission & Distribution, System planning & Design, System Control & Engineering Services, Metering and Generation. .

3. Conduct Periodic and ongoing audit checks and verifications of all records, documents and systems to ensure compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls.

4. Conduct checks and verification of single-phase metering associated circuitry to ensure accuracy, legality and adherence to standards and procedures.

5. Assist in conducting checks and verification of all overhaul and repairs to company’s electrical Motors, alternators and related circuitry

6. Assist in conducting checks and verification of all generation meters at Power Stations operated by GPL.

7. Assist in carrying out field inspections to effectively execute investigations.

8. Required to travel out of town (at short notice) for the purposes T&D, metering and generation checks and investigation.

9. Maintain the confidentiality of all information arising out of each investigation and all matters within the Operations Department. .

10. Promote the sharing of practices across the Company.

COMPETENCY PROFILE:

· Thorough knowledge of principles as it relates to T & D systems, Metering Installation and Generations Operations

· Computer Literacy

· Ability to work and think independently

· High degree of integrity and confidentiality

· High level of proficiency in problem solving related to increased operating efficiency

· Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship

Required Qualifications and Experience

Five (5) subjects CXC including Mathematics, English Language, Accounts and Physics PLUS Ordinary Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering (GIT). Three (3) years relevant experience in Network/Generation Operations/Auditing will be an asset.

OR

Technician’s Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Part 11) with six (6) years relevant experience in Network/Generation Operations/Auditing.

ALTERNATIVELY

Six (6) subjects C.X.C. inclusive of Mathematics and English Language, Accounts (Grade 1 or III). Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) level II, will be an asset with three (3) years relevant experience.
