Job Description/Key Resonsibilities
We’re excited to announce the search for a resulted oriented, skill and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Metering Department – Sophia, Georgetown.

Under the general direction of the Metering Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for executing related administrative, technical and supervisory functions associated with Major Metering, Minor Metering, Material Management & compliance Units within the Metering Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
- Prepare error free service orders listings relative to Department’s Work Programme
- Assist with continuous development of the Department’s technical procedures and record keeping system
- Investigate customer or public complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures.
- Determine appropriate metering requirements for all types of customers in keeping with the certificate of inspection.
- Liaise with other departments/divisions to action queries from internal and external customers
- Facilitate the training of subordinate staff in all aspects of Major and Minor Metering.
- Assist in compilation of information necessary for litigation and appear in court on behalf of the company in litigation matters as may be warranted from time to time.
- Administer and dispense discipline in keeping with the Disciplinary Policy/Procedure.
- Preparation of data for month end reports (Customer Service Standards Breaches, Field Activities, Compliance Activities and Material Management, etc)
- Verify, sign off and submit all contractors’ payment invoices for Manager’s signature.
- Mentor and coach direct reports to achieve overall objectives and personal development.
- Generate and record advance tokens for installation of prepaid meters.
- Plan and oversee all Major Metering, Minor Metering or Material Management and Inventory and compliance activities, to assure that all such activities are completed within standards, on time and within budget.
- Prepare Plan, Budget and Reports, (daily / weekly / monthly /quarterly/ annually) to standard upon supervisor request.
- Recommend disciplinary action in cases of staff breaches of regulations.
- Ensure ISO Compliance throughout the various processes under your control resulting in zero% non-conformity.
- Enforce strict compliance with the requirements of the safety and Health Legislation, regulations and contractual obligations and promptly investigate and make recommendations through written reports with respect to infractions of Safety and Health regulations/Adhering to the Standard Line Practice Codes and Safety rules of the Company.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned to you within the scope of your employment, from an Authorized Officer.

§ Working knowledge of the Billing function and Commercial Policies and Procedures of the Company. |

§ Be conversant with the FACTORIES ACT CHAPTER 95:02, OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ACT CHAPTER N0 32 OF 1997, ELECTRICITY SECTOR REFORM ACT CHAPTER 57:01 OF 1999, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ACT NO 11 0F 1996 of the laws of Guyana, and the Guyana Power & Light License which include the STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ELECTRIC SERVICES of March 31, 2002 |
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/Institution with three (3) years’ experience.
Commensurate with the JM:B – Salary Grade
