Divisional Director – Transmission & Distribution
Job Description/Key Resonsibilities
Guyana Power and Light Inc. invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Divisional Director – Transmission and Distribution.
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Strategic Operations, the incumbent will be responsible, inter alia, for the overall management of the Company’s countrywide Transmission and Distribution System; make recommendations for the system’s expansion; manage risks; effectively manage staff resources; direct new capital projects; optimize system’s reliability and improve the quality of service to customers.
The Divisional Director of Transmission and Distribution is responsible for ensuring the Transmission and Distribution network by:
- Monitoring of the quality and cost of electrical service rendered through transmission lines
- Formulation of long and short-range plans for distribution network expansion and development
- Administration of the policy for the general control of the organization toward improving services at a lower cost and manage the reduction of losses.
The position is responsible for contributing to operational information and analysis to support policy development, research and forecasting. Lead and direct maintenance programmes and implement appropriate rehabilitation and network upgrades. Plan, organize, and control operating activities, through the Departmental Managers, including the use of systems and tools used in Transmission and Distribution (T&D).
The incumbent is expected to stay abreast with industry trends, innovations, and develop and maintain working relationships with regional and international technical networks for advice and support.
