Job Description/Key Resonsibilities

The opportunity awaits qualified results oriented professionals who are interested in joining our team within the Office of the Divisional Director Power Generation and Delivery – Main Street, Georgetown. Interested candidates with the requisite qualifications and experience are invited to apply for the vacant position of Asset Management Superintendent.

Under the general direction of the Divisional Director Power Generation and Delivery, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle management of all utility assets owned and operated by the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Company. This includes generation assets (power plants), transmission and distribution networks, and associated fleets.

This position requires an individual with the expertise in asset management principles, data analysis, and the use of computerized maintenance Management Systems Software (CMMSS). Additionally, the individual is require to travel occasional within Guyana.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

1. Asset Inventory and Database Management:

§ Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive asset inventory for all GPL utility assets, including generation plants, transmission and distribution lines, substations, and fleet vehicles.

§ Manage the CMMSS for recording and maintaining accurate and up-to-date asset data, including technical specifications, location details, maintenance history, and replacement schedules.

§ Ensure data integrity within the CMMSS through regular audits and data cleansing procedures.

2. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

§ Configure the CMMSS to automatically capture and record running hours and generation statistics for all power plants.

§ Utilize the CMMSS to generate reports on asset performance, including availability, reliability, and efficiency metrics.

§ Analyze asset performance data to identify trends, predict potential failures, and support informed decision-making for maintenance and repair activities.
Maintenance Scheduling and Optimization:

§ Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program using the CMMSS to schedule routine maintenance activities for all assets based on manufacturer recommendations, operating conditions, and historical data.

§ Optimize maintenance schedules to ensure asset reliability, minimize downtime, and control maintenance costs.

§ Coordinate maintenance activities with relevant departments and contractors.

4. Asset Life Cycle Management:

§ Develop and implement strategies for asset replacement based on criticality, age, condition, and cost considerations.

§ Evaluate new technologies and their impact on asset management practices.

§ Ensure compliance with relevant GPL and industry standards for asset management.

COMPETENCY PROFILE:

Proven experience in using CMMSS software for asset data management and reporting.

Strong understanding of asset life cycle management principles.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field. Minimum three (3) years of experience in asset management, preferably within the utility industry.
