GPL’s 69kV Transmission Network experienced a System Disturbance

Georgetown, Guyana, Wednesday, September 2, 2020: At approximately 15:22 hrs on Tuesday, September 1, the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) 69kv transmission network experienced a system disturbance which affected service to a number of customers in the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System (DBIS).
Following an examination of the network, damaged line hardware was discovered and remedial work to replace the hardware commenced immediately. Thereafter, power was restored to all areas.
